I’ve worked remotely since before the pandemic. Post pandemic, took a job with a big corporate entity, they mandated two days a week in office. Those two days were an absolute black hole for productivity. Anywhere between one to two and a half hours to get into the office. Getting a coffee or something eats another 20, endless catch up meetings are half the day, mindless coworker chatter, an hour for lunch, then 1.5-3 hours to get home(traffic and weather depending). By the time I get home, I’m spent.
Meanwhile, when I’m working from home, I start an hour to 90 minutes earlier, coffee takes no time to make at home, usually skip lunch and I don’t mind working after hours. Also, I don’t have to listen to Linda go on and on about what’s going on in her life.
They moved to 4 days a week and I was done.

I don’t ever want to hear govt push for nonsense environmental policies in the future, the hypocrisy here is disgusting to think about.

The headphone thing started with the completely braindead concept of „office 2.0.“ I don’t need to hear everyone around me having one-way conversations all day.
I worked at a place that had full size, sound baffling cubicles that switched to half-height cubicles with a 25″ cm glass top „so you could still see your co-workers.“ Of course, we had standing desks for ergonomics too; when those were used your *whole desk* was above the worker dividers. Have a few people do that and you get a cacophony of distraction. Imagine working at a giant roundtable, all day.
Their interest in providing employees what they need to be successful ends with their stupid ideals or a sales pitch from a vendor.
These whining fuckers about office culture have no one to blame but themselves.

Just about power and control. It’s late stage capitalism we’re all owned assets to be moved around at a whim.

The crazy reality of coming into the office to be in Zoom meetings all day long.

Some of the team I work with works remotely. It’s generally accepted that they get paid to do basically nothing because nobody wants to have a TEAMS meeting just to talk to their coworkers

Speaking from my personal experience productivity was significantly when people returned to the office. It was extremely difficult to get a hold of colleagues and simple task could take way longer with the back and forth email chains. And less on-line meetings are always a win

They don’t care about productivity.
We all know that by now.

The government are garbage people. Time and time again they roll out policy that make people’s life more miserable. I don’t want to hear any more about environment awareness, take public transit to help alleviate traffic or anything with mental health. The government literally destroying all of that

SO TRUE. I get about 1/3rd as much work done when I’m in the office. People think that because I’m in the same room as them, they can interrupt me as much as they want. The Gen Z girls talk to each other nonstop and it’s a mess of distraction. Very glad to be hybrid/remote team. When I’m in the office I try to lean in and stack meetings and just get all my in-person interaction work done.

It’s fun to hear the whiners that can no longer do laundry and play with the dog while „working“.

Teams meetings from a cubicle are peak RTO. Nothing like taking advantage of the „fast paced environment“ they offer.
