Of course. They can’t back down now. That would be a sign of weakness and strong men doesn’t want that.

It’s not without consequences though which is the other thing these geniuses doesn’t seem too fully understand.

    2. You either put your foot down, or you risk a repetition of the 1930s with appeasement leading to Anschluss, annexation, and finally war.

If Trump gets to bully one country after another he will never stop. The EU needs to get credible military assets (air defence, navy, limited ground troops) in place that make the US leadership (not just Trump, but Republicans, Congress, the Joint Chiefs of Staff) realise that while they can still win this (the disjointed EU forces can not credibly win a war against a determined US military over Greenland, no matter what), it would be such a messy affair with so many dead Americans and Europeans that the US‘ reputation and standing in the world would be in shambles for decades to come.

    3. Maybe its better that something as strategic as Greenland is under US protectorate then perpetual suicidal political thought that encompasses European Union.

Europe looking like Melos in 416 BC, except we got here by purposeful policies of de growth, net zero, deinstrualization, low natality and high immigration from 3rd world countries in last several decades.

No one to blame but us. There is a reason for saying, talk softly and carry a big stick.

    4. “If we don’t do it, Russia or China will take over Greenland. And we’re not going to have Russia or China as a neighbor.”

somebody should gift him a globe

Well the EU could just dump all US bonds and tank their economy.

Also we evict them from every single EU military and airbase they currently occupy. Take them back.

Can’t have enemy troops within our borders now, can we?

Do you people have any idea how powerful the U.S. military is?? Europe can’t and won’t do anything to stop this if it happens lol 😂 who’s gonna face the U.S. military some dudes in dogsleds? Is a frozen island worth a full on divorce with the U.S.? Europe won’t even defend Ukraine from a full scale assault from Russia.. but they’ll defend a semi autonomous frozen island with 55k people from the U.S.!?

    8. Every morning i hope to see a couple of obituaries on the front page. One of these days.

    9. Trump’s favorite president is William McKinley . Under McKinley the US acquired Hawaii ,Puerto Rico and Guam. Two of those are now permanent US colonies without voting rights and Hawaii became a state in 1959 due to international pressure . This is about replicating America’s imperial heritage .

    10. One important thing to know: An internal NATO directive shows that, in an extreme case, a NATO commander would have to coordinate the defense of Denmark and Greenland. Responsibility would lie with Joint Force Command Norfolk, which is led by a U.S. vice admiral. This would place him in the extraordinary situation of potentially having to defend NATO allies against his own government. Within NATO circles, there is discussion about how realistic such a scenario is and what the consequences of a unilateral U.S. move would be.

    11. Parapharsing Churchill, we can choose between war, and humiliating cowardice, if we chose the latter, we’ll get war anyway.

    12. One thing about Trump is the pedophile was never joking to begin with. He says crazy shit to test the water, then if only backs down if he gets a strong reaction. More important, the people behind him are fully onboard with acting like imperialistic fascists, so don’t expect this to go away even when the pedo kicks the bucket.

    13. Special-Bath-9433 on

He probed it in the public discourse, he faced no decisive deterrents, and he decided to proceed.

Once he does it, the EU will issue a letter of good will recognizing the joint interests of the NATO allies, expressing the willingness for cooperation in facing external threats in Ukraine.

    14. groundeffect112 on

John Bolton says it best about Trump and Greenland: „Trump is taking something easy and making it hard“.

    15. Ah the pedo rapist says rapey things.

This fucking idiot asshole. Republicans must be the stupidest people on Earth for voting for him.

    17. There’s something happening here
What it is ain’t exactly clear
There’s a man with a gun over there
A-telling me I got to beware

I think it’s time we stop
      Children, what’s that sound?
      Everybody look what’s going down

      There’s battle lines being drawn
      Nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong
      Young people speaking their minds
Are getting so much resistance from behind

      Time we stop
      Hey, what’s that sound?
      Everybody look what’s going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
      Singing songs and a-carrying signs
Mostly say hooray for our side

      It’s time we stop
      Hey, what’s that sound?
      Everybody look what’s going down

      Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you’re always afraid
Step out of line, the man come and take you away

      We better stop
      Hey, what’s that sound?
      Everybody look what’s going down
      We better stop
      Hey, what’s that sound?
      Everybody look what’s going down
      We better stop now
      What’s that sound?
      Everybody look what’s going down
      We better stop

      Wake the fuck up America!

Should have been listening to the warnings about America *25* years ago.  So many people have been saying for years that there is no option but to support America and buy American.  Whenever the F-35 is questioned there are people showing up to say it is the best option available.  They have the best option or only option because EU purchases fund America retaining their advantage, it has been a funnel for money to go a future threat.  You don’t get ahead by just buying from someone else, you need serious domestic programs.  Neither GCAP or FCAS are slated to replace F-35s, GCAP isn’t planned to be able to take off from British carriers even.

Whenever Safron comes up people want to complain about it having a monopoly within the EU as a fighter engine producer.  Maybe someone else should have funded one, Rolls Royce used to be a competitor inside the EU but they left.  Engines are a current major bottleneck to aircraft production.  So many in the EU, all the way up to national leaders are too quick to look to US solutions rather than invest domestically and support or create a domestic answer.

Some countries will even look to American aligned nations before looking into domestic solutions.  A recent example is Germany and the Arrow 3, an anti-IRBM missile system.  Congrats Germany, you can shoot down Oreshnika.  Something organizations like the UK MoD have said Russia has has a „handful“ of while the German air defense network is still full of holes while the multi-layer network is still developed.  Can’t wait for the check to clear to Northrup Grumman for them to perform the integration work on the Arrow 3s because they come with shit radars a decade out of date.  I’m sure that won’t bite you in the ass just as I am sure the US missiles and radars on all your warships won’t be a problem if you ever face the US Navy.

Oh, but Europe is rearming, we’re building fuckings *tanks* again.  Eurofighters still haven’t finished their update with modern radars, F-35s don’t have EU munitions, people have been screaming for a decade now to modernize and deploy in number modern air defenses.  I sure hope there isn’t a modern world beating air force anywhere that could become a threat.  It would be real bad if that were to happen since we have been so busy dealing with car manufacturers and farmers worried that they might have to modernize if the world comes knocking.

Most EU militaries still can’t put together an expeditionary battalion.  The German military is trying to assemble a brigade for the Baltics, the plan started in 2023 and we are scheduled for it arrive in 2027, this may be pushed back to 2028.  4 years to get a brigade a 12 hour drive from Berlin.

Some of you may think I am beating on Germany too hard, that’s mostly because most others aren’t doing enough of note.  Italy’s carrier muster a whole 10 American fighters and Spain’s carrier uses *harriers* I am not even going to bother to see if the harriers can still fly.  If they can it doesn’t matter, they are about as combat effective either way.

Nations that do act like they are doing something often do it stupidly anyway, treating it closer to a jobs program.  Like Poland keeps buying new AFV platforms.  Their logistics is a catastrophe, they keep buying new shit but not getting stockpiles so they just have a mixed bag army that doesn’t have enough shells or spare parts while increasing logistical complexity.

It’s not even just an investing in the military thing.  It’s investing in domestic military supply chains and not acting like America is your savior while the US actively talks about how it moves towards geopolitical goals over retaining friends and allies.  It isn’t just Trump, Trump is just doing it with the mask off.  Nations have weakened themselves at the behest of the US to the point they aren’t worth retaining as allies by the US.  People wonder why US institutions are allowing the US to burn soft power and relations with Europe?  It’s because the US is pivoting in geopolitical goals and those relations hold less value so the US is carving off choice pieces.

    19. Gnich_Aussie on

IF Trump/USA does this, the EU & non-US NATO members should start cashing in 10% of their US treasury bonds ***every week*** until the US defaults.
It may not stop military aggression, but it will tank the US in no time at all.

If it wants to be more like North Korea, let them have the poverty too. Give them Million Dollar bread and trillion dollar cars. The US Dollar would be worthless.
The USA needs the world, it’s lunacy for them to destroy any trust they had.

They think this aggression makes them strong and more stable. All they’re doing is giving China more power and respect than ever before. the world is pivoting…
