      I understand that most of the response is up to us Americans, and I kind of wish it was a few months ago but we are heading down a really scary path right now- whether the admin intended for heightened emotions to happen or not.

      We don’t deserve the World Cup or the Olympics at this time. It is not safe here for international travelers (if they even get into the country when they try).

      I had been planning a World Cup trip to Atlanta for the past 2 years but that’s been scrapped. I’m truly saddened but it’s the right thing to do.

      Love me some football. Stupidly so. Like, watching third division Belgian league if it’s on love. And, I’ve also wanted to go to a WC match; didn’t matter who was playing. But at this juncture I am like most, completely priced out. And, now, on top of that I don’t think anyone should be coming to America to invest in our economy and feed the delusions of our mob boss president who thinks it’s all about him.

      If this WC isn’t canceled, it will set records for lowest attendance ever. Nobody outside of the states will go. I hope FIFA loses their ass in revenue.

      As a Canadian, I was really looking forward to this continental moment and hopefully a highwater mark for soccer overall.

      But, because of threats to annex us, because your civilians are being shot in cold blood, or being shipped off to extrajudicial prisons, because of so many reasons I was already grieving. This just adds to the grief.

      Stay strong. This is a class war not a nationalistic one, and despite my anger at your administration we are in this together.

      Please, futbol fans outside of the USA, do not come to our country because right now US citizens and non citizens are being killed by ICE agents. Everyday, someone is dying from a gunshot from people with guns who are not law enforcement. It’s an unsafe country. Go to the games in Mexico or Canada. Please do not spend your hard earned dollars in this country. For your safety, go to Canada or Mexico for the futbol games.
