The answer is, the „don’t tread on me“ crowd doesn’t view what is happening as „treading“, let alone „treading on them“. It is one small, incremental act that followed a small, incremental act and will be followed by another small, incremental act. If someone pushes the boundaries of your principles in violently, all at once, you notice. If they gently nudge, taking small concessions here or there, you don’t.

Being for limited government or being a libertarian means we want government to stay out of our lives as much as possible. That means stay the fuck out of our daily lives and stop trying to regulate away my freedom to conduct myself on my own property and with my own things in ways that I want as long as they aren’t impacting or impeding anymore else.
Being Libertarian doesnt fucking mean we go and fuck around with the government agents by agitating, disturbing and prohibit them from doing their job. Or get outraged because some misguided soul decided to find out.
The country we live in is one of law and order. just because you „feel some sort of ways“ about what the government policy currently is doesn’t mean you act stupid. If I get pulled over and detained by a cop I don’t fucking like it because it’s annoying and inconvenient, but I’m not going to try and flee? Because even if I’m for limited government I’m still pro law and order.
This idea that libertarians left or went back on values or converted to MAGA is autistic. We simply don’t care, like usual because we are busy doing what we want to do without government interference, staying away from them. Like that poor smooth brained woman should have done.

I don’t think the phrase „don’t tread on me“/small government is synonymous with no government or no enforcement of laws/borders; the primary concerns they both deal with are the overreach of government into civil liberties of the citizenry.

Reddit seems to forget one of the TOP reasons Trump got elected was because he was going to secure the border and deport people here illegally.
This is what the MAJORITY of voters in the last election wanted.
The right isn’t asking any laws be changed what so ever. Which means they are NOT asking for the government to get any bigger. They are simply asking the laws that ALREADY exist be enforced.
