      My thoughts are that glorified chat bots can hardly even be considered true AI in the way most people have been picturing it in the past. 

      Sounds more like a wet dream of his…apocalypse kink or whatever

      I believe he’s right (about this). If you were to graph human technological advancement aamd zoom out to a long timescale, I’m certain that we are already on the vertical uptick. Life was generally the same for thousands of years, then we got the industrial revolution, steam technology, electricity, telephones, international combustion engines, refrigeration, air travel, slitting the atom, space travel, computers, the explosion kf digital technology, and now AI. The snowball is growing at an exponential rate.

      Is it the singularity of the world on the brink of WW3? I mean in WW1 and WW2 everyone knew it. There was foreign wars and protests inside countries leading up to it – not just American perspective.

      i know they’re just videos, but ai videos now are almost indistinguishable from reality. unless you sit there and scrub through it looking for tiny inconsistencies, you can’t tell, and probably 90% of the population would believe any ai video is real.

      compare that to just half a year ago. you could clearly tell when a photo was ai. they’d have six fingers or 3 eyes or some shit. in just half a year it’s progressed to be nearly indistinguishable. again, it’s just pictures and videos, but it’s fucking INSANE how fast it is progressing. everybody should be terrified of AI

      I think everybody has different ideas of the terms agi, asi, and the singularity. But I’ve been a believer in the concept of a intelligence explosion for a long time. And after seeing how fast ai has taken off and after seeing how impressive the latest coding models (especially opus4.5) I definitely think what we’re experiencing now qualifies as many definitions of the singularity. My p(doom) is pretty high but yet I cant help to feel a little excited to see what happens along the way.

      The real singularity by definition isn’t something one is able to foresee or influence.
