      My guess is that Trump wants world maps to say „Greenland (U.S.A.)“ and he wants this to happen while he’s in office, so history books will give him credit for it. Making Greenland a U.S. territory will be a lasting achievement worthy of his overwhelming greatness.

      Greenland? That’s a pretty boring name. *Trumpland*, now that’s a name that’ll get people’s attention.

      Its not hyperbole to say you could be shipped off to fight in Europe. Or the EU will crash your economy by using the US debt. Or the world economy by abandoning US backed currencies.

      The U.S. already has complete defense discretion over Greenland! Seizing it changes nothing from a defense standpoint but would be a hideous act of aggression

      I know that a sitting American president has never been removed from office. But there is a first for everything. I believe that if a sitting president is being hostile to its countries’ closest allies, getting cozy and laying out red carpets for dictators, bombing a sovereign nation and kidnapping its president, and using secret police to round up and kill American citizens, something needs to be done to have him or her removed.

      The problem here is that Trump is lying.

      Just as the Venezuela invasion was not about drugs, the Greenland annexation is not about national security.

      It is about stealing oil.

      The US could achieve pretty much any national security objecting by cooperating closely with the Danes. So, his explanation makes no sense.

      USA has more or less checked out of every reasonable worldwide institution anyway.

      As an European, I wish we’d just cut our losses already, stop pretending USA is our ally, and start building a new collective defense system.

      What’s hilarious is he wants out of NATO to get some shitty island to ‚protect the Arctic‘ but pulling out of NATO is a massive reduction in security. The US would basically lose access to Europe. No more bases or mutual protection guarantees. All to get some island we already have a base on.

      This weakens the US full stop. It’s not even slightly America first. It’s Putin first. Trump and his entire cabinet are traitors to the USA.
