    1. >But in fact Lauder, the Estée Lauder heir, had spoken to Trump about the idea at the beginning of his presidency, even offering himself as a back channel to the Danish government to negotiate, according to the book.

Fucking billionaires. The world has a billionaire problem.

      >“I said, ‘Why don’t we have that?’” he told the authors. “You take a look at a map. I’m a real estate developer. I look at a corner, I say, ‘I’ve got to get that store for the building that I’m building,’ etc. It’s not that different.”

“I love maps. And I always said: ‘Look at the size of this. It’s massive. That should be part of the United States,’” [Trump] added at the time.

The guy is dumber than a bag of bricks.

Huh, I assumed it was the technofascists trying to get a military advantage over Canada and Europe. But it was just some failson whose mom knew something about business?

    4. The US have tried to buy Greenland since 1867:

The treaty of 1951, later amended but not superseded in 2004, gives the US freedom to build as many military bases they want in Greenland, provided they find an agreement with Denmark.

If the Trump administration didn’t act like dickheads with no balls they probably would easily find an agreement with Denmark. This suggest they don’t want it for security reasons. Just a reminder that one year ago everyone and their cat were scared by Russia only, and would welcome more US presence up there. I’m convinced it’s all about resources and every other explanation by them is utter bollocks.

Now an interesting detail: the above treaty is tied to the existence of NATO (article XIV).

      >(2) This Agreement, being in implementation of the North Atlantic Treaty, shall remain in effect for the duration of the North Atlantic Treaty.

So what if the real reason is that the US intends to dissolve or get out of NATO very soon, therefore they need to acquire Greenland before that, otherwise they would lose the rights then every decision should be taken in accordance with Denmark?

    5. „The then-president put forward the idea of taking federal funds from Puerto Rico to buy Greenland and on a separate occasion, suggested **trading the U.S. territory for the Danish one**.“

      Well…

      That’s a spicy new twist!

      Danish Puerto Rico.

    6. So it is a real estate deal rather than a national security one. Did Trump lie AGAIN.

It is time to replace all America tech companies plus Visa and MasterCard with EU or Canadian companies.

It’s strange how people with excessive money just feel that everything is for sale, including countries.

    9. Why don’t billionaires ever have good ideas? Like tell Trump to try and break the record for most hospitals built, or most kids taken out of poverty, instead of dumb shit like taking Greenland

    10. Harry Truman offered Denmark 100m they said no but negotiated a treaty and us built a load of bases. Was this guy advising Harry Truman as well

    11. So this ghoul is serving up Russian propaganda to trump? Someone should look into that
