If they were serious, they would just use the existing lobbyist registry, which serves the same function for a **very** slightly different group.
But I don’t believe any major party is serious about this. Interference by the American government is too deeply embedded, and making it public will be embarrassing for all of them.
Knowing conservatives political theatrics, they are probably stalling it in committee and filibustering the shit out of it. Just look at bail reform and current problems trying to get legislation discussed in committee. Only reason it hasn’t passed is due to Conservative efforts to keep making it an issue while blocking progress.
I’ve learned that suggesting elected officials must obtain and maintain a security clearance gets me a multitude of downvotes, but no arguments explaining why security clearances are a bad idea.
So I think a condition of candidacy should include a security clearance. An argument against doing so would be appreciated if you disagree.
