      I’m pretty good at prompting these dictionary slot machines; I’d welcome the opportunity to get myself a handful of Dilaudid instead of the prescribed allergy meds. At this point why not, sure.

      Why the fuck is AI even needed for something like this. Automatic Refills and forms to submit refills have been around for ages. 🤦🏻‍♀️ This is literally trying to fix a problem that doesn’t exist.

      Writing a prescription refill is thoroughly within the capabilities of a regular computer program. There is absolutely no reason to use AI for this, even if AI wasn’t just fancy autocomplete. This is simply not at all an appropriate application of a machine learning tool.

      It’s like if you’re a carpenter bragging about how you’re going to use your brand new shiny Swiss Army knife to saw boards when you’ve got a perfectly good table saw right there.

      So who gets held liable for medical malpractice? I’m serious, I want an answer on this. Medical practice is based on licensure and liability in the states. Nurses and MAs don’t make medical diagnoses and prescriptions because they don’t take liability but docs and APPs do.

      So when this makes a fuck up, what entity gets sued and how does that work? The AI chat bot isn’t a licensed doctor or app. The company doesn’t have a medical license. Do they try and slide the liability to the original proscriber? Is Utah going to offer them some blanket immunity on liability? 

      There’s a reason medical practice is wrapped around licensed liability and this product is going to be ground zero for the future of that.

      I’ll take the opposite view here. Of course doctors and pharmacists think this is a terrible idea, it cuts into their work. We heard similar complaints about telehealth up until the pandemic and that didn’t seem to ruin society. If it reduces unnecessary office visits and co-pays, frees up doctors for more important medical topics, and cuts medical insurance company profits, great.

      I get 4 different scripts each month and that’s only 12 3-month refills. That would only be about 63 people (250 refills/4 per average) before it is free to do as it learned. I think it’s too few.
