It’s not reassuring when it shouldn’t be anywhere ON that list.
We’ve served beside them in both World Wars. We came to their aid in Afghanistan, Korea and the Gulf. We took in their passengers on 9/11 and welcomed them with open arms, they rely on our oil industry, we created NORAD together.
We are the definition of a true ally, and they disposed of that relationship like a used napkin.

Look at the chaos this maniac is kicking up all to deflect from the Epstein scandal.. literally invading other countries and threatening to invade all so that it distracts from the fact that he’s a child rapist. And nobody is seemingly doing anything about it.. STILL!
The only reassuring thing about it is that it means we have some time. Not a lot and definitely not enough, but we have some time to prepare for what’s coming.
Trump said he would use economic coercion to force us to become the 51st state.
He has already crippled our steel, aluminum, softwood lumber and auto industries but he needs our oil and potash. Venezuela starts to address the oil issue but it is the prisoner exchange with Belarus for removal of the potash sanctions that is the real tell. He likely wants the Ukraine situation resolved so he can lift sanctions on Russian potash but he might just go ahead and do that anyways at some point.
I know, Belarus and Russian potash can’t replace what they get from Canada, but they have been more than happy enough to let their own industries suffer for the steel and aluminum tariffs. It doesn’t need to be cheap or plentiful, it just has to be something so they can then hit our potash with large tariffs and try to minimize the impact to themselves.
I don’t lay awake at night worried about an invasion but, it seems to me, the plan to use economic coercion is already well underway.
Trump wants quick wins that don’t stick in the headlines, like capturing Maduro, one man, in the middle of the night on a weekend.
Invading Greenland is the opposite of that. It would be a massive and expensive undertaking even without fighting. It’s also hugely risky… what if they show up, say “we own this place now” and the locals simply ignore them. What are they going to do then, start shooting people? The US would look like fools and the Admin would be criminals.
I think they’re hoping either to buy Greenland, or put up enough of a fuss to the point where Denmark says “ok, we give up, it’s yours now”. Neither of which is likely to happen.
Realistically, Greenland fades from the headlines again until the next batch of Epstein files gets released.
As for Canada, that’s a literal nightmare scenario for Trump. There’s no way he even attempts it. He wants us to want to join the US voluntarily, but even he realizes that’s not ever going to happen.

I hope the invasion of Canada would be the Rubicon that the US military would not cross, I will prepare for otherwise.
When you break it down, our entire defense consists of 3 brigades (~35,000) of combat ready forces, without factoring in sustainment or attrition. When other nations can field several divisions (100,000+) we are simply outclassed and not in a bargaining position.
Far down on the list? Far enough down to probably escape invasion before the next election, if they continue to hold elections, and if the elections actually mean something?
Not exactly reassuring.
My only assurance is that Canada is seen as white by Americans.
The attack on Venezuela isn’t popular with most Americans, but they won’t do anything about it because they don’t really care about the people in Venezuela.
They would if they attacked a white NATO ally.

Canada may be able to rest easy. After all, Hitler kept picking countries. Until he picked Russia. I think Trump and his foreign minister Miller have surpassed that level of idiocy at this point.
No it’s no consolation as he has the attention span of a gnat and could change his brain cell tomorrow. Or overnight, when most of his thought processes seem to vie for attention.
