Genuinely curious and not defending anyone here, but what would be the point of invading a country you already have a military base on?

I know he has said „we need Greenland“, but they already „have it“ in the form of a base… what more would they want and why? And how do we know they are actually talking about invading at all?

  2. Just like a true rapist and abuser, he just wants to take something he can’t have „just because“ – there is no need, of course, since the USA already has a huge military base there and they would probably agree to have more plus do most of what they wanted with – get this – negotiation.

It’s honestly really sad and pathetic that as an entire species we have a handful of old white dudes with small peen complex running the entire world into the ground.

There’s no way any country ran by Trump can be trusted so NATO’s been over for a while, as far as how it was. Whether it will exist without or to fight against the US we’ll see.

Trump is killing NATO, he’s said it a hundred times. Europe has to unite against the criminal US President

  5. This seems obvious. It’s almost as if Trump is working for someone who wants NATO to be broken up!

The US would pay a heavy price for what would be a incredibly stupid move.

The loss of key allies, the financial impact as former allies turn to each other for military goods and lastly the loss of military bases in NATO nations. The last point on particular would really hurt their strategic ability, for example they fly missions to the middle east from Europe.

I honestly can’t imagine someone being so stupid. But Trump along with his team believe the US stands at the peak of man kind, they are vastly out of touch with reality so if anyone would be so stupid then it’s Trump.

The US needs to think carefully about what they do next as reality could hit them a lot harder than they think.

That’s nice and everything, but I don’t think Trump and his Heritage foundation goons give a damn about NATO. They’ll gladly sacrifice alliances with some European countries in exchange for the mineral wealth of Greenland.

If the US does end up annexing Greenland, In any case, Trump and his administration would then face several problems. First, Trump would be doing exactly what he ruled out in his National Security Strategy, because he would be interfering in foreign affairs. After the annexation, Trump would have to engage in „nation building“ in Greenland, i.e., take care of establishing and maintaining government services there.
Unfortunately, with Trump, you have to consider everything possible. That’s the problem. He’s unpredictable. And his unpredictability leads him to pursue policies where nothing can be ruled out.

The next NATO will be to deter the US from attacking… working title *Global Defense Initiative*.

    It is what Trump wants.

He wanted out of NATO his first term, but got talked down.

Countries need to boycott the World Cup. Even the Olympics.

Seriously…it’s not appropriate at this point.

  12. Trump has been trying to kill NATO since his first administration, it’s his payback to Putin for helping him get elected.

Well, we’ll just have our own European NATO, with hookers and cocaine (thanks Netherlands).

We’ll call it the North-East Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Or…

    NEATO!

  14. Kick America out of NATO and park nuclear subs around Greenland and Canada

  15. Not only this, but the US economy is done. We’d see the entire world banning US products and circumventing the US economy.

  16. Exactly what Putin would wanted!

    What a coincidence!

    The Portuguese president called it.

  17. NATO is not done if US invades Greenland.

NATO is done if US invades Greenland and NATO does *not* respond with force. That would signal that NATO won’t defend you.

  18. That’s the point and the purpose…. Trump has wanted out of NATO and Putin has wanted it destroyed. This is what they want

I don’t get why the US needs to „own“ Greenland. The defense agreement between the US and Denmark basically allows the US military to do anything it wants in Greenland. Build a new air force base, sure. Patrol the sea, yes. Build a new port for the navy, go ahead. Install radar and missiles, just pick your spot.

I bet the US can even justify setting up rare earth mines in Greenland using defense as an excuse.

This whole thing feels like a distraction from something else…

Trump considers that a bonus! He hates NATO and has called for the US withdrawal ever since visiting Moscow to secure funding to buy Trump Tower in 1987.

  21. The EU isn’t that dependent on America. I think Nato and the EU in general has to lean closer to China if America continues this. Which is awful but I don’t see another way to stop this madman

  22. Which is what Putin want’s and is getting it done through Trump – wake up Americans!
