I am genuinely shocked by how dense some of these seasoned politicians can be when it comes to things like this. Economic advisor to Zelenskyy? Excellent. Two jobs at once? No bueno. It’s not like she didn’t tell Carney about the possibility of this new role weeks ago, so why not just make the joined announcement and ride off into the sunset with everyone cheering you on?
I feel like the political class in this country has gotten stupider over the last 20 years. It’s a shame, in a way, but at least we know we’re not being manipulated by clever comms strategies anymore. That’s what X is for…

Man these Conservatives just don’t let up on this. It is a nothing burger! She said she is resigning. The Cons keep clutching their pearls. Nothing to see here. Just more rage bait. Like it is no different than when I worked at Harvey’s and the Texaco as a teenager. Cons just have to make a big deal out of nothing all the time.

She’s probably staying to make sure she downloads anything she’ll need to do her future lobbying for Ukraine. Names, lists, government details for projects, whatever. Not sure if that’s illegal or not, but that’s what I’d bet she’s doing. She’s certainly not doing it for a few more weeks of salary, and she’s already got her golden pension.
It’s crazy how many people are zealously defending her being an MP while working for a foreign government.
When did it become controversial to want our MPs to have Canada as their first priority?

After what she did as Minister of Finance she should have resigned in shame as soon as she mocked voters with stupid comments and platitudes.
I hope the Canadian government has at least canceled her security clearance. There’s no way someone should have Canadian security clearance while being employed by another country.
Am I allowed to ask why a Canadian would drop their MP position to serve a foreign state?

This feels like such a chronically online / Ottawa buble thing to be upset about. Everyone rushing to be outraged now because they know she’ll be gone soon enough and there will be no reason to care so they need to act like it’s a war crime.
I wouldn’t be shocked if her recent attendance in higher than dozens of MPs. And senators are famously never at work. It’s just so dumb.
Wait a minute and if she doesn’t quit, doesn’t do her job. Then complain. People are just worried that might not happen and they won’t get their chance to accuse her of an ethics breach.
The Ukraine position doesn’t start for weeks. There shouldn’t be any overlap in the role of MP and Ukraine advisor.
To me the bigger issue is being an MP while living in London, uk.
MP’s should be required to live in the community they represent.
That’s like Rempel Garner living in Oklahoma with her husband and stepchildren and making time to visit the constituency in Alberta.
If you are a member of parliament, with all the privileges and responsibilities involved, your primary residence, where your family is, should be in the riding you represent.
