What are the source, and the definition of „currently drinks alcohol“?
And also why do the numbers seem so low? Is that the definition that’s restrictive, or India has a tradition of not drinking alcohol just like vegetarianism for cultural/religious reasons? (I get it for regions with strong Muslim pop, but elsewhere?)

A few Indian states have a drinking age of 25. I’m somewhat curious how much that’s actually enforced. For some reason I have a hard time believing 24 year olds are being denied alcohol on a routine basis.

Most of the Sikhs I know in Canada drink like fish (even through they’re not supposed to), but the number on this map for Punjab is only 11.91%
