You’ll never go broke appealing to the lowest common denominator.

Had no idea it was even on anymore…it was labeled oddly on YouTube TV that didn’t say anything about Dick Clark

    3. It’s that KPDH bump.

But it was probably the featuring of Puerto Rico. I’m not sure if it’s been done before as I’m always mostly tuned out while my family watches but it definitely felt like this one was a big one for them.

    4. Loads of people not paying to go out to a New Year’s Eve party this year? Wild.

But also, and I say this quite understanding not every musical act needs to be my, personal, jam (and I appreciate giving newcomers some “exposure”), I felt like the line up this year was “more popular” than last year’s. I’d appreciate anyone with a serious support or refutation of that vibe with numbers, but that was my feeling.

I think Nielsen changed how they count viewers, the numbers now don’t mean what they used to.

The “Dick Clark” brand is a loss-leader. Clark’s been dead almost 12 years now. I remember Dick Clark, but I’m in my mid-60s. Geez, let him go already.

    7. That is 100% when I turned on the ball drop. I watch it until they play Sinatra then I go to bed.

    8. Anecdotally: A ton of New Yorkers are sick this year with this flu strain going around. It’s also been hellish freezing here. I can imagine a ton of folks who typically go out, stayed home this year.

We watched it for four minutes. They were two minutes behind reality.
