Trees just can’t get a breather in Japan. Disturb the almighty power lines? Cut. City gets tired of cleaning the leaves? Cut. People like the tree and take pictures there? Believe it or not: Cut.
Can’t they just crank up the charges for the tour buses then make bank?
I don’t understand how cutting down trees was their best idea.
That seems like an odd solution.
Hopefully they don’t do the same thing with the overtourism in Nara.
Anyway, can they not just suck it up? I mean, we had a similar thing with bazillions of Japanese tourists in my home town in the old country, back when Japanese folks had money. Luckily, nobody suggested demolishing all of the old university buildings.
This is just so stupid. Literally their solution to the problem of „We have something nice that is attracting outsiders who want to see it“ is to just destroy the nice thing so nobody can enjoy it.
Damned depressing.
