    1. >In the early hours of January 3, 2026, explosions and low-flying aircraft were reported across Caracas and other parts of Venezuela, prompting the government of President Nicolás Maduro to declare a nationwide state of emergency. Caracas residents heard several blasts and witnessed smoke rising over key areas, including military installations, while power outages and widespread alarm followed. The Venezuelan government has accused the United States of launching military strikes against both civilian and military sites, describing the events as “military aggression” and a violation of international law

      Shitty map. Totally erroneous:

Argentina had several dictatorships supported by the US, the most prominent being the last (1976–1983).

      Paraguay had Stroessner (1954–1989).

Uruguay had a dictatorship between 1973 and 1985.

Perú had Morales-Bermúdez (1975–1980) who collaborated sporadically with the US.

I know it’s too small for the map but grenada should be included, they had a boots on the ground invasion.

    4. I’m as anti-trump as they come, but Maduro needed to go, but that’s probably not enough, since the military seems to back him. Venezuela now looks a lot closer to North Korea than it does to other Latin States.

It’s ironic that Trump wants Maduro to go, when Trump’s probably jealous of the power Maduro had.

      As leader Maduro:

      Sham elections
2018 vote ruled illegitimate by the European Union and Organization of American States.

      Ended democratic rule
Stripped power from the elected legislature.

      State human-rights abuses
United Nations found torture, killings, and arbitrary detention by security forces.

      Repression of opposition
Jailing and exile of political opponents and journalists.

      Economic collapse
      GDP down roughly 70–75 percent.

      Hyperinflation
Venezuela’s inflation peaked at 1,700,000% in 2018 according to IMF and central-bank reconstructions. Prices were doubling roughly every 19 days.

      Oil sector collapse
PDVSA output fell due to corruption and purges. Billions have just disappeared

      Mass exodus
Over 7 million Venezuelans fled. That’s 25% of the population.

    5. It’s a miracle the Cuba regime is still standing here, I realize that just now.
