My Nan and grandad are buried in a friary too, Not that uncommon I’d assume.

    2. Got this in the comments from where I cross posted it from. According to local lore:

      • A churchman (often said to be a bishop or abbot) buried at Kilmacduagh was considered deeply sinful or corrupt in life.

      • After burial, disturbances were reported—unnatural sounds, movement, or the belief that the body would not rest.

      • Fearing a curse or malevolent presence, the monks were said to have sealed the grave with heavy stone, sometimes described as being mortared shut.

      • The sealing was meant to contain the spirit and prevent further harm, a practice echoed in Irish folk belief about restless dead rather than formal Christian doctrine.
