      What a shitty company. Its bad enough people get suckered into paying a brand tax but then to get screwed over too …

      I actually don’t think Corsair should be blamed here. These aren’t super high margin, and the prices of components have changed very rapidly. While it does suck from a consumer standing, there’s not a lot they can do. Either cancel the order or sell at a massive loss. If the prices of components were increasing by smaller amounts, they probably would have eaten the cost on the already placed orders, but given the magnitude of the increase, that’s not feasible. It’s really not them being shitty in this specific case.

      The first comment in the original post is a corsair agent reaching out to them to fix it. OP never even indicated that they tried to get support to honor the price. This is a nothing burger.

      Does any one know how this works for places like MicroCenter? Like, they presumably have stock that they purchased at the old rates but then sell them at the current rates. Does more money go to the manufacturer or is MC just banking an extra few hundred dollars on each RAM sale for older stock? (For instance: MC bought from supplier in July for $125 and sold today for $550)

      As someone whos only ever bought corsair for RAM and PSU’s for 25+ years, this is the sort of behaviour that makes me think, never again. 

      There are plenty of other manufactures that are highly recommended too.

      I bought my recent new build, very luckily 3 months ago, but now corsair have lost my favour and can get fucked. If they behave like this, then their reputation is aligned with the scalpers.

      My buddy is making bank on FB marketplace buying old PCs and selling their components. It’s insanity. In the last 2 months he’s made enough to buy a new Tesla, and drives to big cities and will pickup like a dozen systems at a time to just tear the down and resell their components.

      Businesses in particular have no idea how much their old systems are worth. In some cases because of the RAM they are worth more today than what they paid for them 4 years ago.
