Though the population of the island has more or less reached pre famine levels once again, the population is a lot more concentrated in Dublin and other urban centres. I am from Leitrim and it’s population was over 150,000 before the famine and is 30,000 today.

    3. Used to live in Galway for a year abraod during my studies. One of the best tines of my life

    4. I often underestimate the population weight of Northern Ireland within the island. If there were to be a United Ireland it would take a ton of effort to balance the country, Protestant parties would have a huge impact on Irish politics and so on

    5. lived in Galway for 6 years. I loved it. The countryside around it is amazing.

If there were only a hundred people, wouldn’t they want to live together?

If Irish schools didn’t teach percentages, how would you explain it’s demographics to a stupid 10 year old?

Northern Ireland has already exceeded pre-Famine population by almost 300k, but Ireland is a million away from reaching pre-Famine levels.
