      Happy 2026 everyone!

Snippets of some of his responses:

      * *New York will remain a city of immigrants: a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and, as of tonight, led by an immigrant. So hear me, President Trump, when I say this: to get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.*
      * *I am young, despite my best efforts to grow older. I am Muslim. I am a democratic socialist. And most damning of all, I refuse to apologize for any of this.*
      * *I don’t think that we should have billionaires because, frankly, it is so much money in a moment of such inequality, and ultimately, what we need more of is equality across our city and across our state and across our country.*
      * *Mamdani’s “response to #burritogate” – where he had been pictured on the subway eating a burrito with a knife and fork.: **I hear you. I see you. And if you’re a burrito on the Q train, I eat you**.😂
      * *If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him. So, if there is any way to terrify a despot, it is by dismantling the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power. This is not only how we stop Trump, it’s how we stop the next one. So, Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: turn the volume up!*

    2. Well a lot of people think that someone accumulating a billion dollars in wealth is not healthy for society. I don’t care if they accumulate that much wealth as long as it is done honestly and they do not use the money to buy and use the government to make them more wealth.
Some key billionaires in my lifetime have done just that, with terrible consequences to the middle class.

I am not against billionaires. But I do believe in a maximum wage. And those of a high income to pay their share of the taxes.

    4. Yeah we dont need billionaires. They take all their wealth from governments and horde it into properties and make more money. Broken system for us, fixed system.for them

Billionaire’s have no counter part in nature. They are an unnatural anomaly that shouldn’t be permitted. Healthy ecosystems require diversity. Billionaire’s are the antithesis.

    6. We don’t need organized religion either, but I don’t hear him making any proclamations about that.

    7. It’s frequently an exciting mix of hereditary wealth, venture capitalists, inflated IPOs, predatory business practices, loans, tax breaks, greasing palms, backstabbing, and often just general fuckery that gets these people this unimaginable wealth.

It’s rarely earned or deserved, but the system could never be undone and ”wealth” is also created for those on the periphery, from lawyers and real estate agents to contractors and decorators, to caterers and dog walkers.

I’ve got no problem with billionaires as along as they pay their taxes. There are billionaires out there who pay less tax than I do.

Too bad all the poor people who can’t afford Healthcare and necessities because billionaires say we can’t have those things are going to be upset about this.

I agree. Unlimited money makes for an unfettered privileged class

It’s not even the people with $1 billion that suck bad enough to care. Sure, that’s a shitload of money, but it’s not necessarily at the level of „change society singlehandedly“. Near as I can tell, it’s the people with $10+ billion that really seem to be the biggest fucking monsters. Those are the people who literally can’t find ways to spend even just their yearly interest/dividend income on their own personal comfort, so they have zero personal downside to funding massive public influence campaigns.

The difference between a million and a billion dollars is about a billion dollars.

Fuck, this is mamdani straight up saying “bye felicia” to billionaires on day one and trump’s probably rage screaming into a cold big mac rn, lmao

I used to not agree but now I do. I know some of them are doing good. But it really feels like the bad ones are doing way more harm.

IMHO he should have said „billionaries must be taxed accordingly to sustain the country“. As stated it sound a bit extreme, but certainly captivates part of the voters. Decades ago where I live the communist party would say on the lines of „that rich guy has a BMW/whatever, vote for us and you will get it“

Americans need to take their heads out of the sand and stop worshipping billionaires.

      Healthcare Not Wealthcare!

We don’t need billionaires at all, billions gets thrown around quite a bit in this bullshit world we live in, hearing about Leon’s fortunes every day, the Trud family raking in billions off the backs of us, I don’t think some people realize how much 100 million or 500 million really is. It’s fucking insane, you find the math posts all over reddit about how it breaks down. Nobody needs over 100 million or 500 million but it’s a hell of a lot better than 1 billion.
