The nuclear weapons that were on ukrainian soil, but under direct military control of Russia and that they didn’t have the ability or access credentials to use.

Keeping the nukes would have resulted in Ukraine being cut off from the entire western market, both economically and culturally and pushed them towards Russia.

Then there is the fact the Ukrainian economy was absolutely fucked at the time with shrinking gdp. They simply couldn’t have afforded to keep them even if they could have been used.

The idea that Ukraine would be in a better position today if they had kept the weapons is flawed at best and stupid at worst.
