18 and ready for war ? No Brother, I was not even ready for war at that age.

funny how whole generation of boomers had zero wars and now they decided to send their grandchildren to fight their wars… truly the worst generation in the history, from USA, to Europe and Russia, to Australia, they sh*t on the youth.

    3. I am sorry but this is simply a dumb question to ask. No one is „ready for war“ nor that he likes to go to the frontline. You are sent there against your will – otherwise nobody would go fighting.

Somehow politicians are always very keen on sending young men to death, instead of taking any accountability for the failed policies they have been forcing on to the continent for decades. These kids were not even adults when you were already screwing up everything, and now they should be ready to die for you?!

Also, where are the feminists now? Can’t see any! Interesingly enough it became customary to hate on men, up to the point when this summer the german public television was spreading direct, unashamed hatred towards men in their idiotic podcast. But when sh*t’s going down, suddenly feminists become just women that needs to be protected…

The question should be: „how can we make this country into a home for which you’re ready to fight“

This creates a difficult problem for Europe. Over the past 7 decades or so, they’ve tried to live peacefully, condemn nationalism, and advocate against war. This has created a very pacifist culture and that will be very difficult to change now.

    7. in Ukraine it is not manly 18 year olds that fight, so why do we ask our young? Perhaps because we dont believe we need soldiers now, but want professional soldiers in 5-10 years from now?

    8. What people never understand: having a capable army and lots of people trained as soldiers and being prepared for a war in case you get attacked is preventing an actual war. Mandatory military service does not mean you are sending you youth into a war. Its the most effective deterrence. The cold war never turned into a hot war because of all the military.

How about asking 18-year-olds for their solution to the war an whether they want to send the oldies into battle.

Germany hates their ethnic youth and now they expect them to fight and die in droves again

Should have migrants enlist for their spot in the nation

I guess, since they posed that question, then German 18 year olds think they are ready for war in a an abstract kind of „felt cute might delete later“ way 🙂

    12. It would be interesting to know how ”ready” is supposed to be interpreted in this context. Because it can mean two very different things.

Conscription is shit, but y’know what’s even worse?

Getting absolutely buttfucked by an invasion because your army is outnumbered 5-1

This stupid questions go round the European countries, trying to find negative views concerning the European unity. Why don’t they go and ask the Russians if they are ready for war? They are actually the only ones invading AND annexing territories left and right. Not the Europeans.

    15. Could you paste the text so we don’t all have to subscribe for a year for a single article 😂💀

From Finland, if the germans say no seeing as we are both in NATO with a potential danger in the east i say to you:
Als Dank für NICHT erwiesene Waffenbruderschaft! 💀

The military service isn’t that bad really, you get alot of friends from all walks of life there

    17. This stupid question is comparable to Goebbels‘ „Do you want total war?!“ It may not be Nazi, but it’s the same stupid idea! Nobody wants war! Nobody is ever prepared for!

Its funny how it as Russian blood that won WW2, now the Americans have switched sides.

The tragedy of pacificism. The West has forgotten the role of organized violence. Its enemies haven’t.

I am Norwegian and we had general conscription for young men when I did it. The question is obviously not if you are ready for war, but if you are willing to defend your country if necessary.

The way out was to say you were a pacifist and not willing to take a human life. Then you could spend the same time as the military service as a volunteer worker in a kindergarden or things like that.

I didn’t and still don’t want to go for war, but I didn’t mind spending a year in the military. As a 18-19 year old, I went in a boy and came out a man. I learned so much about myself and how much I actually could do, I got life long friends and life long experiences that has helped me.

But was it easy? No. That is why you grow from that experience. Was it super hard and extreme? No. You learn to handle weapons and stuff, but you learn more about how to learn to be comfortable when you are uncomfortable. You learn to be cold and wet and tired and you learn how to not be so cold, wet and tired the next time. Been there, done that. This is a Tuesday.

    21. You ready to fight to the death because two billionaires are being stroppy with each other?

    22. The paywall makes it hard to notice that this is a questionnaire given to 18 year olds as they begin their compulsory national service, which puts a sligtly different slant on it, it could be asking wether you’d prefer to do community service rather than military training. But then it is the Telegraph so expect a right wing and xenophopic message.

      2026 is the year

      US and Europe Vs China.
      US and Europe Vs Russia.
      US and Israel Vs Iran

They will act at the same time.
3 different types of war, reason why you will see US in the 3 theaters

    24. Yes they are. They’re all infact competitive gamers with 240hz screen and in bronze.

„War is where the young and stupid are tricked by the old and bitter into killing each other.“ – Niko Bellic

    26. War with whom? Russia is in no position to attack anyone, China is too far to do much, so unless the US decides to backstab NATO there isn’t much of a war to fight in the near time…

    27. JumpingAround44 on

The only way to entice young men to fight people they technically have nothing to do with is.

A; Give them a lot of money, not barista wages, but actually a lot of money.

B; Brainwash them from an even earlier age.

    28. No one is „ready for war“!

Are we willing to fight for our country? Depends!

To conquer neighboring countries for a elite clique or a new Führer? Hell no!

To defend what we have against an invasor? Oh yes! FUCK YES!

You see, as a German I can apprechiate what we currently have. We are living in a peaceful Europe surrounded by friends and allies in a union that allows us freedom of speech of religion of travelling of press and of being whoever we are! We are living in a state of law and justice, and we had peace since 1945! We are living in a democratic alliance with values and human rights and this my European frieds is worth fighting for!

If anyone dares to violently endanger this I am willing to fight for Germany.

Yes, it’s not flawless, there are things going wrong but Europe is still a much better place to live than Russia or now USA.
