Alaska and Hawaii having the same highest record temperature is always a fun fact.

Americans are gonna be – that’s not hot!
Edit: didn’t swipe to see the °F map…

Ironically, coastal California is some of the most consistently pleasant weather in the world. It’s some deserts in the interior (like Death Valley which is where I’m sure that this temperature was recorded) that get really hot.

Note how Hawaii and Alaska each have the same highest temp!

How come Canada got so hot? It’s not like they have the Gulf Stream warmth like Europe.

You read that correctly: British Columbia (Canada) has been hotter than everywhere else in the USA (and Canada) aside from California, Arizona, and New Mexico. That interior desert heat is real. And we love it (most of the time).

Would love to know, when as well.

I’m from Florida originally but now live in Ontario as a Canadian citizen. It’s interesting that the place I’m originally from and the place I currently live have the exact same record high temperatures despite being very different in climate.

Weren’t the pacific Northwest temps back in 2020?

But it’s a dry heat, nothing to worry about here /s

British Columbia is higher than Texas, yes Texas!

Amazing that BC has a higher high than all but 3 US states.

Washington and British Columbia got to 120/121 but the southern strip of Alaska only got to 100?

Fun fact California has the highest recorded temperature in the world.

Ontario and Florida in the same category?
Ew..

Fun fact, Montana’s record low was -70F/-56.7C, giving it the record for difference between extremes in the US at 187F/103.9C

OP, well played putting Freedom Degrees on the second image. I noticed the multiple-image icon, prayed, swiped, and was rewarded! Thank you for enabling my continued ignorance

As someone who is used to 120F, I cannot imagine 121F in British Columbia. What would that do to the fauna and flora of that area?

East coast for the comfort win!

Now do one with lowest temps. Winter is terrible.

Parts of BC’s north (mostly uninhabited) are a desert if anyone is wondering
The 57 C / 134 F in California is probably Death Valley. Extreme low elevation desert.
This map misses vital details. Not particularly useful. Isolines that ignore state boundaries would be way better.

Labrador and Newfoundland at 107 is the big shocker to me.

California is a very diverse climate state man. If you are by the coast it’s probably the most pleasant weather (not too hot not too cold) during the summer months. Yet we have Death Valley in the desert.

I do like that P.E.I. Was the only place that didn’t hit 100!

I’ve lived long enough that I just know the conversion of C to F for common temps around weather. But when you try to make sense of the actual conversion it makes no fucking sense it my head.
