Will watch. Thank you! I watched both docudramas about Oxys I think one was called painkiller, both were great.

I have several family members who are addicted to opioids and/or heroin, one died of a fentanyl overdose a few years back at age 30. I’ll never forget, when I was a teenager, one of my cousins who was also one of my closest friends had just started doing oxycodone. She would’ve been about 17 or 18 years old at the time. One night we were hanging out, we went to meet up with a guy who had sold my cousin some pills unbeknownst to me, and when we got back to the house she asked me if I wanted one. I was only like 15 or 16, so I was kind of freaked out honestly and told her that I didn’t want one, and told her that she shouldn’t do them either. This isn’t some big crazy story or anything, but what always stuck with me was her response to me telling her that she shouldn’t fuck around with those pills- she was like „no, it’s not like that, it’s not really *drugs,* it’s medicine, the doctor literally prescribes them to you! It’s not even drugs, it’s medicine from the pharmacy!“
Obviously that sounds dumb, especially in hindsight knowing what we know now. But I’ve never forgotten it because I think it just really shows the insidiousness of what the Sacklers did and the way that these drugs were put out there and presented to the public. People really just didn’t know or understand fully at the time, but the Sacklers *did* know and understand.

Killed a lot more than 500,000 I’d imagine

We’ll drop expensive munitions on speedboats almost 2000 miles away from the US mainland allegedly because of drugs yet what will ultimately happen to the Sacklers? If they are the single most responsible for the opiod crisis and ultimately their punishment is no jail and only some of their profit then any fines going to the government isn’t punitive, it’s merely the government getting its cut
