If they refuse to close it, then require all non western aligned vessels to pay for an escort that monitors their anchor at all times. They really aren’t trying to hard to stop russia from destroying their defense capabilities and infrastructure.

As history has proved, if there’s no pushback or penalty, they will continue to do it and get away with it. Repairing those things can’t be cheap, and what services are suffering due to budget cuts that needed to be shifted into cable repairs every few months?

Is the alternative to let russia do this indefinitely, the week after it gets repaired?

At this point, they need a large naval ship ready and waiting to stop, seize, and arrest the russian ship as soon as connection is lost. Charge them for not only cable repairs, but the cost to keep that vessel on alert 24/7

Sad, they don’t even need to name to country behind this, since we all know after reading the headline which useless society was behind this, looking at you Putin.

Start sinking those ships. The world is at war, most just don’t realize it yet.

    7. The level of Seamanship which is required to acidentl drop anchor and not realizing it is just absurd.

You hoist the anchor then you clamp or shackle it, it is a routine Work on Bord of aVessel, and everyone who has been on a ship which drops a anchor will agree that this hardly goes unnoticed. But i only can speak for ships around 100 Meters. They could at least use Fishing Trawlers these would be a far more realistic Scenario.

We just have to look at the increase of such incidents since the War startet and we have our answer
