  1. Classic is Kronen zeitung Kochbuch gelb (the yellow one).

You can find it on willhaben.

I would recommend „Die gute Küche“ by Ewald Plachutta.

Its straight forward Austrian cuisine and according to my mum it’s a must have in everyone’s (austrian) household

  3. „Das große Sacher Kochbuch“ by Franz Maier-Bruck is the go-to in my family. Very comprehensive and iirc it even has some sections on the history of some dishes and the Austrian cuisine as a whole.

  4. How to start a religious war …

    Plachuttas books
    And Sacherkochbuch are safe bets

  5. I like [this](https://amzn.eu/d/6Hv0U7R) one.

    St. Martiner Kochbuch.

That’s a newer version of the book that my mom got in the Hauswirtschaftsschule (domestic science school) I don’t know if the word makes any sense to you. It is (was?) basically a school where mostly females go and learn how to be a housewife.

They learn stuff like cooking, baking, cleaning, knitting, sewing, budgeting, child care and care for elderly ppl ,taditional dances and stuff like that.

As other users mentioned before, i would also second the plachutta cookbook. There is the normal one and a fancier „golden plachutta“ cookbook. Both are very good. I dont like the restaurants but the book is great. Straight forward and really old recipes. Even my grandmither cooked with it :))
Edit: there should also be an English version available
