Some vendors are actually starting to sell pre-built PCs without RAM just to keep the list price from looking insane. It’s like buying a car and being told the tires are bring your own
I can see this helping Linux take off as a serious competitor in the OS space.
It uses a fraction of the ram that windows 11 uses.

What a shitshow for consumers and the environment. Thanks to Microsoft, we have massively increased the amount of global e-waste AND get to experience a massive increase in cost of PCs due to AI.
And all the executives are laughing as they sit atop their piles of equity.
What does this mean shrinking ? It’s not like the computers disappear. Do people really replace their tech every year? It’s not like this is a bad thing.
I could see other avenues for manufacturers to recoup some costs as well which will be be bad IMO. TV OEMs already have deals with most streaming companies to have their apps on there. I remember buying an HP all in one awhile back(15 years ago) that came loaded with shovelware but maybe this will be a bigger thing now.

For the 1000th time , the normal user is not gonna switch to Linux . Why do people keep spouting this ? You can’t do everything with gui in Linux , good luck making the normal person type stuff in terminal.
I bought a Legion Go S because Lenovo said they are increasing their pricing by 10-15% in the new year. It is replacing my old 64gig LCD Steam Deck and I honestly think this time next year I might be able to sell it for about as much as I paid for it because of how bad the prices are going to get.
