    1. > “Technically, I’m retired right now,” Culkin, 45, told hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes. “I retire and then, if I find something I like, I unretire, do that, and I immediately retire afterwards. Every gig is my last.”

      > Technically, following the release of his 1994 film Richie Rich when he was 14, Culkin did actually take a lengthy hiatus. “I quit for nearly a decade,” Culkin explained during the podcast episode. “Just went to high school, fell in love, got drunk for the first time, things like that.”

      > Unlike a lot of child stars, he said he received the „lion’s share“ of money from his work, so he found himself in a unique position from a young age. „I was in a position where I could just put my thumb up my butt and play video games all day long. You know? I could do anything I wanted, really,“ he said.

    2. If I had gone through half of what he went through, I would have retired as well

I honestly think that, once any actor has made enough money, this is the healthiest perspective to have.

I get that, nowadays, a lot of the acting industry is about building „a brand“ and maintaining that „brand“, but anyone who has enough money to maintain themselves or their lifestyle till the day they die (even taking into account unpredictable things like illness or natural catastrophes destroying your home and whatnot) is just feeding a machine.

Once earning a living is no longer an issue, you should get to choose how you spend your time.

    4. I mean why not? Fat checks fall into his lap every year and he has a wonderful family with the most beautiful woman in the world.

    5. Once actors have made enough money, it’s only worth acting if they love it and find a film/tv series they really want to do.

Or many decide to produce, direct. Others do “serious” plays on the stage.

    6. More tabloid exploitation. How long can we go without bringing him up every Christmas season?

    7. Kings was such an underrated show and I still am mad at everyone that this show got canceled.

Yeah, that’s one way of putting it. My 21 yr. old nephew says the same thing.

    9. You guys are replying to a repost spam bot and too dumb to know and downvote everyone telling ya

    10. Why do I keep seeing this story? What’s the hype around Macaulay Culkin today? Just asking.

    11. I’m a 55F who adored him when he was young, but was aware and worried about his family situation, especially his Dad. I became a Mom when he was at his lowest and hoped for him to get through it. To see him this happy and emotionally sound as an adult and Father makes me thrilled. Every story he tells about being a Dad reminds me of my amazing Dad. I am so happy that he found love with someone (Brenda) who truly loves and respects him.
