Can you imagine all the things that type of soldier got up to in Ireland in the time before independence? If they were shoving guns into unarmed people’s necks in 1991?

To them, they were the hammer and we were all just nails.

I recall my late father, who was in the defence forces, taking us up to Greenore to see one of the Irish naval patrol vessels entering Carlingford Lough on patrol. I wonder was it after one of these incidents?

Well, to put things in perspective, a decade earlier MI5 were scheming to assassinate Charles Haughey. Just remember that when the current crop of FF/FG are up in the North genuflecting at British imperial memorials.
