Hire some Canadian teenagers (or any other citizen who needs a job). If some fast food places close because they still cant make it work using Canadians, then so be it. We’ll survive with one less fried chicken place, one less burger joint, one less coffee shop.
The best we can do is kick everyone out and drive all the public sector back to 8 days a week in office without ever asking the hard hit restaurant industry to look inward. Maybe raising the price of hamburgers by another 45 percent will help?

I used to live in the US, and when the restaurants had trouble finding workers, they raised wages and in many cases, had to offer benefits in order to entice people. Its amazing what can happen when you don’t allow every fast good restaurant to hire foreign workers.
Everything the dude complained about are the positives.
Now he’ll have to hire local, pay well and be a good workplace to retain staff
The restaurant industry – particularly fast food, has 2 problems:
1: People no longer have the income to eat out.
2: There is less interest in eating out.
The industry can go a long way to solving this problem by hiring young Canadians. Young people who are out working make disposable income which they will spend on local entertainment including food. If they are out working, they are meeting others, making connections and encouraging each other to go out.
Contrast that with immigrant labour that spends all their income on basic groceries and rent. There’s more bodies, but they are not spending money as disposable.
The restaurant industry has screwed itself. Let’s eliminate foreign workers and allow the restaurant industry to unscrew itself.
Corporate profits need to take a hit as part of the broad economic adjustment. Wealth can’t be concentrated outside and excluding the working class. That’s what got us here. And that’s all up to government policy to effect.
Wages will increase organically.
Some businesses won’t survive.
Some prices may increase.
All good.
Damn. Its almost as if *consumer based industries*, should be championing better pay and cheaper living conditions for their consumers so said industries could then afford to hire workers with proper compensation since the *consumers*, could afford to consume their products.
Race to bottom. No pity. Get fucked. You cry about needed slave labour, you do not deserve to operate.
