    1. If he’s really on the hook, and he needs to fulfill the terms of the contract, then he should just show up and play twinkle twinkle little star for 2 hours straight, or something to that effect.

    2. If the jerk in the White House renamed it the Hitler Center, it seems to me that he would have fundamentally changed the nature of my contract in that I would now be seen as endorsing Hitler. Same thing here.

      Lolz.

Yeah… Cause that’s how you deal with musicians.. threat of lawsuit.

      Stupidest timeline

      > Any artist cancelling their show at the Trump Kennedy Center over political differences isn’t courageous or principled—they are selfish, intolerant, **and have failed to meet the basic duty of a public artist: to perform for all people**,“ she said.

That like.. isn’t a thing lmao.

NPR can go fuck themselves for even giving this story legs… They even go out of their way to refer to it as the OG name in the article.

    4. this scummy administration literally cut funding to the arts, I’m on this musicians side

„my contract was to play at the JF Kennedy center. Not the trump – Kennedy center.“

If you sue one musician then you must sue all the musicians who canceled their performance at the Kennedy Center. Otherwise it seems like an easy case for the musician to win. I’m not a lawyer though.

That’s a guy that should never smile when getting his picture taken.

Like someone else said. That jazz legend just became a punk rocker!

As a musician, the current economy, lack of AI regulations, and just state of the world have caused me to lose significant income. So can I sue Trump and his goons?

Music industry person here. No performer in their right mind would enter a contractual agreement without a mutual cancelation policy.

Unless their agent/manager is useless this is all hot air. Not saying it couldn’t waste time in court but it’s the same semantic as his other fafo howdareyouisms.

Sounds like a First Amendment issue. Is this administration actively suppressing civilians’ constitutional rights? It’s a rhetorical question. I want them to admit it in a public court on the record.

Musicians should only cancel last minute so all the Washington dochebags still show up and have to go home

Hooray! I’m so glad my tax dollars are going towards even more frivolous lawsuits!

      So fun!

He should show up, play John Cage’s “4’33””, do several encores of the same song, and walk off to thunderous applause. 👏 art! 👏

I’m no Tom Cruise fan, but does anybody think he turned down a Kennedy Centers honor because he was busy?
