Italian police arrested seven people for diverting about €7 million in donations meant for Palestinian civilians to Hamas.
The money was raised through three associations that claimed to provide humanitarian aid but mostly funded Hamas or groups linked to it, including families of terrorists.
Two more suspects are wanted abroad, and authorities say over 70 percent of the funds went to terror-related activities.
Italy’s interior minister said the case exposed how fake humanitarian efforts were used to support terrorism.
