Give it an alt name and keep your mouth shut and itll live. Its literally the same issue every single mod.

I love disclaimers and stuff like „please support the original makers by buying their game!“
that’s not got any ground legally. You can’t infringe a law and say „ok but guys full disclosure… We’re aware that we’re doing it so we ask you to also give them money“

Yeah, that’s…not how that works. That disclaimer and requirement carry as much weight legally as someone on YouTube saying „no copyright infringement intended“ when they upload something that isn’t theirs – that is, absolutely none.
Yeah, the only realistic way to do this legally would be to have the user actually supply the actual game files. Even then, given how DMCA works, and how R* is about stuff, that still would probably lead to a takedown. Big difference is the potential of winning with a counter-notice and court time, even if only theoretical given the pack of lawyers and cost) they’d unleash in response.
Bonus side rant:
It is pretty shitty how the originals are just not available at all anymore through legitimate means. Probably still around on key reseller sites, but those are always sketchy and questionable.
Bundle it in with the remasters if you must (like how Nightdive releases generally go), but the originals never should have been removed from sale like they did.
