If Trump agrees to give the Donbass defense line to Russia, then at the next moment U.S. soldiers would have to pay for it with their blood – or the United States would do what it always does: break its agreements. 
That is the reason U.S. security guarantees are worthless. If the United States took these guarantees seriously, it would not take the risk of giving these defense lines to Russia, because it would mean having to pay for it with its own blood if Russia were to attack Ukraine after receiving this land.
