Given the color of places like Spain and Mexico, I am *incredibly* skeptical of this map, to the point of being ready to call it BS.
You’re trying to tell me there’s no Italian diaspora in Spain?

Pretty sure there are more countries with at least 100K italians… for example Spain.

Funny thing is that in Argentina no one who’s a descendant from Italians would ever say „I’m Italian“ like people from the US do. At most they may say „my last name is Italian“. But, at least in our language, these are nationalities and unless you were born in Ireland you’re not Irish, no matter how much you like to say it.

3 out of 5 Argentinians are Italian descendants (it’s over 62% of the population), I’m one of them myself, I have an Italian surname, I’m fully Italian of my father’s side, and half on my mother’s. I even got the nationaly thanks to my paternals nonnos and I live in the EU.
I even heard the odd comment saying I like someone from Northern Italy, and we feel that way too about Italians I met, they do look Argentinians but it actually *is* the other way around.

In Argentina we don’t say „I’m Italian“, we say „my grandma was Italian“, but we have better pizza than in NYC and we do this 🤌🤌🤌 while we speak

The second best Italian restaurant I have ever been to in my life was in Perth Australia.
The best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to was in Rome. But that one in Perth was a very close second. And much much more affordable.

Back then, in the 19th century, the crown facilitated the migration from people from specific regions (mainly western Europe, but also Japan) to Brazil, with the concession of land (mainly in the southeastern region to work on the crops) as a ‘enwhitification’ attempt of the brazilian population.
Back then, due to material conditions, the major ethnicities who in fact came here were italian and japanese, although there was also an influx of germans and other ethnicities as well.
