AI: a multi-billion dollar calculator that might tell you 2+2=5.

I can’t wait for AI to be enshittified.
I suspect a lot of LLMs are just going to disappear once they go to pay the Piper. Other types of AI will probably survive fine.

We are just getting started. Buy infrastructure now, agents in 2 or 3 years.

The problem is people think llms are „ai“. They aren’t, they are trained to give you a response that sounds like something someone would say.

This article is dumb, OpenAI is going to close a new $100 billion round the first or second week of January at a new all time high valuation by 300 billion.

Doubtful. When ever has an industry invested this heavily in a tech and it just failed?

This is the kind of reporting I want to see. One of many data points that show we’re not at the frothy part of the bubble. Major Ai companies have been in a market corrections with over 20% drawdowns in some and we get stuff these opinion articles doubtful of about Ai. Lots more money to be made on the upside.

It’s an opinion article so don’t believe the hype. There’s still people pulling up for the cash buffet and I don’t see it ending anytime soon.

Let me give a different take. I’m an old dude, having done professional software development for 35+ years. I laughed my ass off last year. The shit that came out of of LLMs was completely unusable unless you babysat every line generated.
I’m not laughing anymore. The latest Anthropic models (Claude 4.5 Sonnet & Opus) are F’ng awesome. I’ve taken a very large Python project and have done a jaw-dropping job transforming it to Rust. I’m extremely solid with Rust, but I’m not expert level.
In TWO MONTHS I’ve generated about 150kloc of working, testable & deployable Rust. Do you know how long that would take me to do that by hand?! I don’t even know – maybe 2 years?! 3 years?!
And guess what? The code is very decent. It’s not perfect but not terrible. Now…I’m not completely Vibe Coding the whole thing by any stretch, and I’m making minor manual changes and giving extremely detailed specs and guidance, and it’s working. I was skeptical, but it’s working.
Y’all can pretend AI can’t do it, but I’m here to tell ya – strap in. The developers who refuse to use AI are dead – done – goners.

If the AI bubble bursts, all the AI companies will go bankrupt, right? They can afford the energy bill of those huge data centers with meager earning they make right? So then there will be estate sales on all the AI hardware on ebay. Buy a rack of industrial grade AI chips for pennies. All the little AI geeks will suddenly have all the gear they need to start something cool. The AI bubble bust will turn into a small AI entrepreneurial boom. AI will be democratized.

It’s either that or big companies will just use it for their own good and will be exclusive to any normal tom dick or harry
