      Russia will eventually end up as a giant version of North Korea. It won’t happen overnight, but the country is definitely heading in that direction. Putin will remain in power until at least 2036, but he’ll probably rule for as long as he lives. Given how wealthy he is, he can easily afford to prolong his life well into his 90s. Mugabe ruled Zimbabwe until he was 93. Cameroon’s authoritarian president is 92. Gorbachev lived to be 91. It’s entirely possible that Putin could live past 90 as well. By the time he finally dies, he’ll make sure his successor is just like him.

      Not so long ago, there was a country that acted as the leader of the free world. A man sat in an Oval Office unlike any other. He would have condemned this firmly and taken a public stand to denounce it. Now, in that same office, there is another man. You have never seen anyone quite like him, and he is thinking to himself, “I could do the same. If it worked in Russia, it might work here!

      Udaltsov is not a leader by any merit. Even at his highest, 15 years ago, he didn’t do or say anything big.

      The guy fell off the radar many years ago, was quietly living on donations in some obscure niche. Literally forgotten.

      Even that was big enough threat for the hysterical regime.

      He is not in opposition. At all. Title is seriously misleading. He was totally aligned with regime.
