There has to be a middle ground between generating non-stop AI slop versus using these new tools for what they are: just tools.
There are tons of tools that create synthetic textures. No one complains about that, even though a human artist didn’t create every pixel by hand.
I don’t have a problem with a company integrating AI into their processes if 1) AI isn’t the driving force behind their creation(s) and 2) they are transparent about their AI usage.
Incoming train wreck of an AMA. This is just not a topic you can talk your way out of. Best case everyone is cool with the answers until the game comes out and some Placeholder AI image didn’t get scrubbed for release and all hell breaks lets loose.

Good luck Swen. People won’t have the fucking neurons to understand the nuances of using AI in game dev.
I’m not a big AI guy but honestly can’t wrap my head around this controversy.
It sounds like they’re using AI generated images for inspiration early on in the concept stage, not that AI-generated content is actually going into the game.

People didn’t read his original interview at all.
He clearly said that they use AI for presentations, place holders etc., not in the final game.
As if all of us aren’t using AI every day to take care of menial tasks or even just to bounce ideas of…
And honestly, if you don’t use AI in any capacity, you’re just being short sighted and stubborn for no reason
This is going to end poorly.
How about using human minds to “explore ideas”? This is pure gas lighting.
If this allows them to spend more time on content and bugs/optimization then I’m all for it.
Let the cry babies ask their questions
There were maybe a dozen people in „uproar“. This is literally a nothingburger taken way too seriously by media.
Whoever gets mad at the use of AI during prototyping is just that type of person that would get mad at anything they dislike regardless of context.
Honestly, the Divinity series is already the definition of bland and tasteless so generative ai won’t change much.
Absolute worst thing he could’ve done. The online mob isn’t out to have a dialogue or to come to an understanding. He should shut up instead of feeding into it
