I don’t know why this was controversial. A parliamentary officer needs to maintain the trust and confidence of people from all over the political spectrum, which is why they shy away from using emotional wording that can be interpreted as partisan

Methinks he has taken advisement to soften his prior comments, as he’s hoping to land the job full time. I’d wager he’s out regardless because he embarrassed the LPOC, which currently forms the Federal government right now.

The PBO has to be impartial and present the data. No emotional statements are needed to get the point across to the Canadian public.
This is what happens when you tell the truth in government.
This is why we have politicians on auto-lie mode and answering questions with scripted party lines and deflection.
He was obviously tuned up
He messed up. His role was to present the data and let political partisans make emotional arguments. For some reason he thought it was his role to play opposition.
Hard to see how he can be seen as an impartial officer of Parliament now.
