Someone already said these numbers are not adjusted for inflation, and as you can probably imagine, the budgets of the future events are not final, but preliminary.
The $51B for Sochi comes from this Guardian article, which has the number as the cost, not the budget:
That same Wikipedia article has some of the costs separate to the budgets:
Salt Lake City: $600M
Turin: Not listed
Vancouver: $6.4B
Pyeongchang: $12.9B
Beijing: Not listed
The Salt Lake City number comes from a newspaper article that is no longer online.
Basically these numbers are a mess.

Why measure from 2002?

I think China’s is under calculated as they also forced reductions in production to improve air quality across the country.

I come from an Olympic city (Albertville 1992) and it’s honestly pretty neat. A lot of infrastructure has helped the region towards hosting other high level competitions afterwards. I trained in ski in Les Saisies where we still hold Biathlon competitions. Thanks to the infrastructure, a lot of Olympic athletes are from my hometown. Same for the icerink and I’m sure the other ski resorts used. I’m not sure for how long we will be able to host them with climate change, but I’m very proud to have trained in olympic infrastructure. Pretty neat!!

„Final“ operating budget for future events is a joke.

Vancouver 2010 was the best Winter Olympics. The men’s ice hockey gold medal game is one of the greatest hockey games of all time.
…I’m also Canadian so a bit biased lol

Finally Milan-Cortina cost 5 bil. An italian shame.

This is a stretched statistic. The costs specifically for the Sochi Olympic Games were much less, 51 billion is the total amount spent on the development of the region, for example, roads and tunnels alone in difficult mountainous terrain cost ~ 10 billion. It is clear that corruption and theft took place, but it’s not even close to what everyone thought it was.

Why don’t we just permanently have the winter Olympics in the Alps or in the Wasatch ranges?

The russian corruption is endless.
Are these inflation adjusted?
Wait, what did russians do with 51 Bn, build a new city or two?
Damm Russia gave a lot of money to Putin’s friends.
Imagine building sporting infrastructure that only a dozen people in the world would ever use.
The Salt Lake City games was the last time the Olympics turned a profit if I remember correctly.

Why aren’t Sapporo and Nagano included?
