      The politicians and the people of Greenland and Denmark have made it clear they want nothing to do with this.

      So what is the plan? There aren’t many ways to take over a country that doesn’t want to be taken over by you. Is Governor Landry going to lead a military invasion?

      How anyone thought someone like Trump deserved the Nobel Peace Prize is just beyond me.

      Denmark needs to kick the US out of Pituffik Space Base and invite any other non-hostile NATO country to take its place.

      The presence of any US serviceman on Greenland is a massive security and sovereignty risk.

      Greenland will refuse to accept him as ambassador, both Denmark and Greenland will be sanctioned in one way or another (tariffs on Lego, Carlsberg and Tuborg, Volvos and Ikea? declaring „Danish“ pastries and *Hamlet* performance illegal?) and then it will be Greenland’s fault.

      (Yes, I know Volvos and Ikea aren’t Danish, but does the current administration know that?)

      Russia is absolutely adamant that the entire Donetsk region of, including land they have not occupied, should be ceded by Ukraine because, well, just because. This morning JD Vance is reportedly telling people the Ukrainians have privately acknowledged this but aren’t willing YET to concede that point publicly. Why bring this up in a discussion about Greenland? Because Russia and Trump’s America are singing from the exact same hymn book. Trump is saying, “Russia, you take Ukraine and Europe, China you take Taiwan and Asia and you both agree that I become King of the Americas. Africa, you ask? Shit hole continent that nobody wants.” Trump is not only undermining the American economy and reputation, he’s promoting world authoritarianism. Not that they really needed his help.

      This move exposes Trump’s true goal for Venezuela, stealing its petroleum and rare earth resources. We all know it. The administration just doesn’t want to say it out loud.

      Monroe Doctrine 2.0. Trump wants power and control and influence over the Western Hemisphere. Canada as the 51st state. Owning Greenland. Gulf of America. Missiles into Mexico. Control of the Panama Canal. Sanctions on Petro in Colombia for going against him. Tariffs on Brazil for jailing his buddy Bolsanaro. Extra monies for Argentina, El Salvador, Honduras, blowing up boats in the Caribbean, increased military presence in the eastern Pacific. Seizing boats. Regime change in Venezuela… Machado, the far-right, populist fascist would be a much better ally than Maduro ever could be. This is all about American expansionism. He’ll leave the eastern Hemisphere for Putin and Xi to duke it out.

      At this point Greenland needs to ban any American from setting foot on it. Likely kick them out of Denmark as well. At this point in time other countries need to take America as a serious threat.

      just why? why is he into expansionism? natural resources maybe. how can we blame Russia for the same thing? I’ve not lived long enough to see the US as an aggressor. think…the visits to north korea and russia in his first term. the monuments he wants to put up and has succeeded to himself. what other president of the us has done things like this. the desecration of the white house. i’m sick. I’m sick from reading reddit posts about the atrocitys, the name calling, the disrespectful long list of rants, raves and complaints. I have to remove myself from this. I’m starting to see it in my dreams.

      Okay so even outside of how catastrophically stupid it is to even suggest doing this, Denmark being a NATO member already essentially secures US strategic interests in the Arctic.

      Having established that, it’s worth reiterating how absolutely brain meltingly stupid this proposal is.
