Practice of sending end of the year and calendar also seems to have died off. Not many people use paper calendar nowadays and most just go into the garbage.

Having lived in Japan for most of my adult life, I stopped sending these like 15 years ago and I’ve been getting fewer and fewer cards every year. Now they only come from people who are just dead set on sending them out every year even if they don’t receive any

The concept of sending a postcard with your whole family, names, ages and address is a privacy nightmare.
The cards don’t get teleported from the sender to the receiver. They pass through a lot of hands. They all have access to the personal information.
