Lol “losing their ass is part of a pivot”

      Who writes this bullshit?

For so long I’ve wanted them to pivot into more open consoles that double as PCs, it seemed like such an obvious move as they were hemorrhaging market share to Sony. Now with how hard they’ve doubled down on forced AI OS integration and valve’s gabecube as a competitor I’m not so optimistic for them.

      I’m disappointed.

With a different CEO we would have an amazing Windows ecosystem with phones, tablets, laptops, watches, game consoles earbuds, smartphone etc. All giving much needed competition to Samsung and Apple.

Instead we have a terrible ecosystem with everything consumer being killed and what’s left is riddled with Artificial Stupidness (there’s nothing intelligent about CoPilot).

They’ve shot themselves in the foot from the 30% profit margin requirement to the mandatory compatibility with the low powered series S to ignoring the performance complaints of windows gamers.

    5. It’s weird that this sub in particular doesn’t see that Microsoft is „winning“ in profit which is the whole point of business.

They haven’t been competing in console sales since 2017 by their own admission. Going multiplatform brings them a far larger audience with a far larger profit margin, on top of GamePass subs which is still making money.

But all anyone seems to care about is „lol nobody buys Xbox consoles“ – no shit, cause that literally is Microsoft’s strategy now: you don’t have to buy an Xbox to play Xbox games. You’re still giving them your money.

      It aint rocket surgery.

    6. I’ve been PC gaming since 2010 now.

I saw a video about the XBONE era, and totally understood what killed the MS domination in the gaming sphere.

The 360 was the best gaming console of its generation. It beat Sony at their game, creamed the Gamecube.

It really looked like M$ had gotten the culture in its deathgrip. Great console with massive power and compromise, amazing game lineup, introduced an online community like Steam with Live.

Then they wanted to try to become Steam immediately. They got power hungry. They didn’t understand that PC gaming <> console gaming and why Valve could get away with locking a single game to a single machine.

      They destroyed themselves. Good riddance.

„Losing the race“. Microsoft left the arena a decade ago and console losers are still going in circles. Microsoft was PC before Xbox and will be PC forever.

Saw an ad recently where they redefined „xbox“ to be any screen where a game is played.

Like, sure guys. Rewrite definitions to make your massive failure a win. No one will notice

    9. You can call it what you want. You can rationalize this situation in whatever way helps you sleep best at night. Microsoft didn’t invest millions of dollars in a piece of hardware to see it fail.

I’m still mad they folded on the phone OS so quickly. They spent years losing money on XBox, finally got competitive, and now pivoting away from hardware. Microsoft needs new leadership.

Xbox One launch ended them and they never truly recovered.

It was like a fatal wound. Sooner or later they were always going to bleed out.

    12. AI Slop games via cloud streaming only is where they are headed. You own nothing and enjoy the slop peasants

    13. Bold strategy of doing nothing. Cool! I’m sure that will go well. How about make Windows or Teams suck less?

Their pivot into their crappy AI, no one wants Copilot but they just keep trying to force it and it’s not gonna work out

Microsoft’s big pivot to bankruptcy? Is that their goal here? Theyre doing everything wrong right now.

    16. They’re losing the console race because they’ve stopped asking developers to release games on their console.

      >be steam

      >do nothing

      >always win

    17. They haven’t recovered from the always on and connected fiasco from the Xbox one.
