Pre-warning the public for re-entry into the union. First Erasmus, then trade and then the full package deal.

    2. I don’t really get what the end goal of this recently pro-EU rhetoric is from Labour figures.

The *focus groups* have clearly told them that Remainers are a significant and under-represented voter bloc, so Labour figures have been tempering their rhetoric on the EU. But when asked about rejoining they’ll return to insisting that Brexit is good and Brexit is great and it can’t be overturned. Because fundamentally they’re trying to appeal to both this bloc of Remainers, while also appealing to these pro-Brexit ‚hero voters‘, so it results in them triangulating into a position which doesn’t really appeal to anyone.

Wesley’s clearly on the campaign trail though. Why else would the health secretary be making vague statements about how high taxes are.

I mean he is t wrong. Leaving the EU was one of the shortest sighted, stupid mistakes that the country made

Mate ur job is focusing on healthcare don’t need to worry about the other stuff

    5. Let’s get to the European target national debt/GDP of 60% before we even consider rejoining (the existing members should be making that a key condition of membership, even if they’ve chosen to conveniently forget about doing it themselves)

    6. I do find it odd that rejoining the EU is seen as some kind of universal pamacea to our economic woes. The issues are deeper than Brexit in my opinion, they include our level of debt, low productivity and lack of affordable housing.
Also our tax burden is one of the lowest in the EU so rejoining won’t necessarily lead to lower taxes.

Is this the reverse pipe dream that vote leave had.

Leaving the EU will magically solve our problems to now rejoining the EU will magically solve our problems?

This debate is a distraction to our real issues and we need to stop looking for an easy out.

This reads as Streeting trying to position himself as a leadership candidate. Starmer appears weak by allowing this to occur and he should challenge Streeting publicly and put him in his place – his performance at the department of health has been poor so he has plenty of justification in getting rid of him.

Streeting jostles himself again for the centrist PM position. Honestly, ditching starmer and replacing the leadership with a more traditionally centrist front-bench (as opposed to these far-right chasers we have in charge) could be what this government needs to stave off its decline. It’s not a great position to be in, but if the other options are Farage, or pre-Farage (Starmer), then I’ll take what I can rn.

    9. >One of the things I’m proud of about this country is that we have an atheist prime minister with a Jewish wife who succeeded our first Hindu prime minister who succeeded a number of women

A number of women? What an odd way of phrasing it.

It’s not like there were too many to count. There have been two women in recent times, and one of them was Liz Truss, who was a complete disaster for the entire 45 days she was in office.

Is that really one of the things he’s proud of about this country? Because that is what he seems to be saying.

I know all MPs bullshit. But there is bullshit, and then there is bullshit.
