Why is this a picture and not a link to an article with the picture.

    2. New French nuclear carrier, 78,000 tonnes displacement.

      20% smaller than the *Gerald R. Ford*-class.

    3. Fuck yeah! France is taking the new global climate seriously. De Gaulle was right about everything

    4. What’s the displacement? The length?

Is it conventional? Is it nuclear?

      Who’s fleet is it for?

Op the detail would be nice

Due to enter service in 2038, so probably sometime around 2045-’50

Europe doesn’t need supercarriers. They are needed for force projection away from shores, which Europe doesn’t do.

Why is nobody in the picture holding one of the little toy jets going „pew-pew-pew“ while thrusting it towards the shoulder of a colleague with whom he has a playful workplace rivalry

    10. One is a start, but surely 2 or 3 smaller ones would have been a better choice? Seems like this is big for the sake of being big

What is this? An aircraft carrier for ants!!!!? It needs to be at least 3 times that size.

Can’t wait for the comments saying „why build aircraft carriers when a single Chinese missile can sink it 🤪“

nothing is funnier than the people saying „but what about drones“? Carriers are literally platforms to deliver drones in naval and overseas settings.

    14. We’re in that phase again where Russia boasts about ludicrous shit and the west actually builds ludicrous shit.
