Is this why gas prices have dropped in USA?
I am glad they are boarding the ships rather than just blowing them up, the last thing we need is another environmental disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.
This feels like a prelude to war in 2026
hoy hoy hoy hoy a pirate life for meeeee
If the tanker is sanctioned, they better take it. Keep the oil and scrap the rustbucket (its a hazard to the environment). Put the money into a trust for the people of Venezuela they will get after they have a democratic government.
Edit:
Why are you booing me, I’m right
If this keeps up, we’re going to see more nations quietly reinforcing their merchant fleets or rerouting shipments.
Pirate Nation gotta pirate
Enforcing sanctions is a good thing, but the complete lack of any consistent justification, strategy or goals presented to the American public while deploying massive military force is insane. As a US citizen I never thought I’d live through being railroaded into another war like Iraq, but it sure feels like that’s what is happening.
What would happen if Venezuela booby trapped a ship killing many American soldiers?
The walls are closing in on Maduro. May Freedom ring in Venezuela soon
I always come to these comment sections for the highly informed and nuanced takes on geopolitics.
Let me correct that title for you real quick:
„US Is Said to STEAL Third Tanker Off Venezuela as Tensions Mount“
There we go 🙂
no shot we seize 3 oil tankers from a sovereign nation to end 2025. The US Navy are pirates now.
Said it yesterday, I’ll say it again here. Just because you don’t like Trump, doesn’t mean this isn’t legal. The world (especially the Navy) isn’t black and white. It’s 50 shades of all sorts of gray. I’ve been a naval officer for quite a few years now, we are impartial to politics and we operate within the confines of the law. I’ve been part of the operations planning process; there’s a lot that goes into it. Y’all may not trust the current administration, but you should at least trust the military; we learn from our mistakes, even if it takes a couple of decades.
Gas prices hate this simple trick
Russian, Iranian, and Venezuelan oil is all sanctioned. The US has every right to enforce international law by seizing the shadow tankers that illegally transport sanctioned oil.
If Russia, Iran and Venezuela don’t like their tankers being seized, they should stop violating international law by using them to illegally transport sanctioned oil.
Remember folks, it’s not called piracy if it’s state-sponsored.
Attacking Venezuela. Attacking Syria.
Epstein files? Nothing to see here, move along.
Piracy
The Eagle has secured the liquid gold
Excellent news! The more the merrier! Destroying every Russian/Chinese ally should be our priority.
Tension completely created by the US military
Well done. Squeeze them dry on export so the regime collapses on its own
In one way fuck Trump and the US for literally destabilizing global security… on the other, fuck Maduro and his axis allies.. tough choices.
Fling terrorists
Just pull the trigger and start the air strikes.
Nothing like a Christmas war for the troops and diversion
My god, why everyone, including a big portion of Redditors nowadays are war-mongers
To play devil’s advocate,
I think this is Trump’s team way of saying “Hey, why are you selling oil to our enemies and not us?”
Since we are partnering with Argentina with beef production (which was a couple months ago).
South America including Brazil etc, needs to be our ally instead of BRICS. (Has Russia)
It’s obviously an awful way and these including the boat bombings are war crimes.
Venezuela, Iran, and Russia have a massive shadow fleet illegally transporting sanctioned oil. They do things like turning their transponders off or identifying themselves by flying another country’s flag. International law says this is illegal. Any country can board and seize these vessels.
Most countries, especially in the America’s, have small navys and no power projection beyond their coast to seize these unidentified boats, but the US can.
Russia, Iran, and Venezuela sponsor terrorism. This is a good thing for the West and our allies, and that includes Ukraine.
Where are they storing the tankers after finishing?
Maybe Venezuela should stop flying their oil tankers under flags of other nations. US and the Coast guard are going to board you every time if your registration is fake. All the US does is contact the third party nation to verify if it is their ship. When that nation inevitably says no, we are going to seize it every time.
What is the claimed justification? Anyone got a tldr?
Contrary to Reddit opinion, I don’t think the desired outcome is to provoke kinetic escalation.
Rather, it’s hoped to put pressure on the regime such that Maduro’s generals perform a coup.
They gotta pay the troll toll…🎵🎶🎶🎵
