The one in Tennessee has to be in Gatlinburg right? I went like 10 years ago and it was just one slope with snow machines while the rest of the mountain was bare. It was cool to see since I live down south where it rarely snows but it felt odd seeing just one ski run while the rest was empty.

SC here, went skiing in NC once as a kid and thought WNC was basically Colorado until I returned.

Ive seen this map before, interesting but a little misleading. Number of sites <> size of each one. And total sites <> just downhill skiing. It includes designated cross country as well.
Source: I live in Michigan and there are no mountains here lol. To consider us, in this view, equal to Colorado is crazy.

I’m surprised and a little doubtful that Nevada is in the same bracket as Iowa

Iowa
There never was a more surprising combination of four letters!

There’s no ski area in Texas. At least not a mountain with lifts and snow.

OMG pick a single color for the data. This is impossible to read.

Living in central Florida, my aunt has never seen snow in over 10 years. And ski areas either.

Should note a lot of the midwestern areas are just big rolling hills with no mountains

Hi Arkansas here, we actually have 3 ski resorts…. have since the 40s

It’s wild that Minnesota and Montana have the same number of ski areas.

wisconsin cracks me up. i don’t doubt they have a ton of ski areas, but the longest run is gonna be about a minute to the bottom lol

Texas has lift-serviced mountain biking but no actual ski hill.

Connecticut used to have more, but climate has warmed so not as many now

Yeah Texas doesn’t have one.
