    1. There really seems to be a small cohort earning a fortune through government incompetence. I don’t see this situation improving anytime soon either.

And FFG will have to neck to come out and say these people need to be protected (the landlords that is, not the homeless) because they’re providing a vital housing service.

At what point will this government actually deliver enough housing. This has been going on for 10 years now.

Wait…..for that kind of money you could buy a hotel. Ah right lads we already did that

People are always so quick to look at the negatives like the atrocious waste of public funds being funnelled into the hands of Banty and co but look at the positives…

Corduff GAA, Banty’s local club get state of the art facilities and inter-county players transferring in from all over the country all off the back of taxpayers money. Great man for the parish.

Wouldn’t 58 million buy you enough properties to have enough emergency accommodation rather than renting ?

What is Séamus McEnaney’s face on this when all he’s doing is profiting from stupid government policy.

The people responsible for this should be on the graphic.,,,

    6. 54% of Dublin’s homeless are non-Irish.

Surely it would be better (and cheaper) for the state to offer to send some of them home?

Both for the state’s finances, but also for the homeless themselves. Being homeless in Ireland, in winter, is an awful life.

So build some fucking houses and appartments and don’t let the vulture funds near them.
This is a governmental self made issue

    8. Now think about this, people like Banty are using state contracts as collateral to borrow money to buy and lease places to rent back to the state. Thus increasing the asset prices for everyone else. Double f*cked

    9. Lol. Are we still going to call this no corruption? Keep burying your heads in the sand. That will solve the problem.

When you think how that could have been invested makes me think a large part of this is transferring your income to others.

    11. This would be a feel good story if the government were actually doing anything in the background to increase housing supply and get people out of needing homeless accommodation. If the government said this was an emergency intervention and they’ll spend €100 million reducing every year as people go into private accom. As it stands this amount is only going to increase until somebody stops it, probably suddenly

    12. We have no value for money, people are treated terribly in these services as most of them are privately run. Some of the governments friends are making a fortune from this crisis.
