Would be happy to support Japanese nuclear weapons especially if it was a joint program with South Korea and Taiwan.
America can no longer be relied on.

You’d expect him to overcompensate based off his heritage alone… “Really, guys, I’m one of you!”

Ukraine’s situation makes the lesson painfully clear. A country can give up nuclear weapons in exchange for “security assurances,” yet still be invaded when it becomes inconvenient for a nuclear power to respect them. At the same time, countries like China and North Korea continue expanding their nuclear stockpiles despite international pressure because nukes work as deterrence. If survival is the goal, nuclear weapons are the only reliable deterrent. Relying on promises, alliances, or “international norms” is a gamble one Ukraine already lost.
There’s also a brutal financial reality. Maintaining a nuclear deterrent is vastly cheaper than fighting a prolonged conventional war. Ukraine has already lost hundreds of billions in infrastructure, GDP, and human capital costs that dwarf the price of maintaining a credible nuclear deterrent. From a cold strategic perspective, nukes are not just more effective; they’re more economical.

The idea that Japan has any autonomy to decide in such matters is laughable.

If you know anything about history Japan is the last country on earth that should have nuclear weapons

Frankly it makes sense. East Asia is one of the most nuclearized regions on the planet. You have China, Russia, and NK wielding a combined thousands of warheads.
Japan will never attain the industrial, economic, or manpower capacity to build a military which can deter a Chinese superpower. And with the US pulling out of the region, nukes are the best guarantor of your security.
Same argument for Korea and Taiwan although China would definitely invade the moment Taipei starts a nuclear program.
