I think anything at this point would come off as completely hollow and fake. He tried „rebranding“ during the last election cycle and I don’t think it really did much for him, he can wear all the cowboy hats and plaid he wants but he’ll never shake the snivelly little nerd image.

A mature institution would have learned this lesson 8 months ago after fumbling such a large lead and the personal loss of the leader’s seat.

If this were any other politician, I’d expect him to take the advice. He is absolutely determined to be absolutely consistent and refuses to pivot or change for anyone. He comes across as so inflexible and unwilling to change that I have no idea how he would ever manage the complexity of running a country or being a leader on the global stage.

Do people not remember the Poilievre of a year ago? He’s made very significant changes since then, but ultimately it’s probably too late to save him.
A year ago he was talking about how the „woke WEF is going to force you to eat bugs“ and „Carbon Tax Carney is Just like Justin“ while refusing to talk to any mainstream media outlets.
Now he’s removed much of the schizo messaging, he’s significantly professionalized the team around him, and has changed his media strategy. He did year end interviews with all 3 major news networks, has gone on CBC multiple times, and went to the press gala dinner. Poilievre if a year ago would never do that.
It doesn’t seem this is enough to prevent a Liberal majority, but these aren’t minor changes.

He needs to do more than that. He needs to have a Scrooge like change of heart and become a new person. He won’t. Attacking and dividing are all he has.

Id rather vote for someone who stays consistent than someone who plays the crowd. It would be better if all politicians did this, then we can vote for people who actually align with ourselves. Not flip floppers.

Considering that PP seems to be still running on Windows XP, if he resets, that’ll take him a long time to reboot!
But seriously, he cannot reset his message. The whole brand has been designed to be „pro-oil and anti-Liberals“. Mark Carney’s genius in making the Liberals pro-oil has now completely destroyed the Conservatives brand. The only thing left are the beliefs that „Liberals=evil“ and that position PP on the political fringes where his party becomes unelectable.
Prior to the elections, many people voted for the Liberals but also many people still voted for the Conservatives because they couldn’t believe that the Liberals could change and come closer to conservatism. Now that Carney has proven it, EVEN some Conservatives MPs are now crossing the floor towards the Liberals!
If PP adjusts his message towards the center, he’ll be „excommunicated“ by the CPC. If he keeps his message to please his base, he’ll fast track the disintegration (or devolution) of the CPC.

Not gonna happen. He’s not capable of change. And the Conservatives think it’s easier to convince Canadians to love the bombastic, unlikable attack dog their base adores, than to simply pick a normal, sane person to lead them.

He doesn’t have another setting.
Glasses on or off, eating apple or not, reboot him all you want. Vitriolic and insecure is his only mode.

If PP wants to close the gap to Carney, he should look and sound exactly like Carney. This is the secret strategy he must pursue.
